As a Professional Fly Fishing Guide, my particular area of expertise encompasses the length and breadth of the South Island.

My base in Christchurch is such that we can drive to some excellent fishing areas in as little as 90 minutes. And, if time permits or if the local weather is not suitable, we are only two and a half hour scenic drive from the West Coast.

We can also helicopter into areas so remote that the fish there die of old age!

The Season
For most of New Zealand the season opens in October and goes through until the end of April. There is also winter fishing available especially in popular Taupo.

The Fish
Both Brown and Rainbow trout are plentiful and there is also a small population of Atlantic salmon. Pacific salmon fly fishing is also something that is becoming more popular although the qualities of fish are perhaps not as vast as in other areas, the size the fish grow to are amazing!

New Zealand has a large variety of landscapes and hundreds of lakes and rivers to choose from, most of which hold trout. The rivers vary from small creeks & streams to large alpine rivers.
