About the website:
The Travelindex website is a tourism resource portal for independent travel to New Zealand. It contains information about New Zealand in general, accommodation, rentals vehicles, activities and attractions, and is an extensive database of tourism operators in New Zealand. You can access the tourism operator pages through the Attractions, Accommodation and Transport sections or by using the search tools.
Search tool:
- The entire contents of the website can be accessed from the search box.
- Browsers can choose to use the simple search or use the advanced search option.
- To search choose the category and then the location and click Browse button.
- In advanced searches you can include keywords for the display to narrow your search to specific information. Also in the advanced search you can choose the number of results displayed on screen.
- The default amount is 10.
Information is arranged in the following broad areas:
- Accommodation - The Accommodation sections offer information to help you plan where to stay when you arrive in New Zealand.
- Rentals - The rentals section offers rental vehicle types such as rental cars, campervans and motorcycles when applicable for each area. Within each section you can search for specific accommodation and transport via the category listing provided. Then, select an individual tourist operator from the listing.
Regions
New Zealand is divided into 22 different regions, also grouped into six areas with diverse regional characteristics and attractions.
- Attractions - Places to go and things to do for each province.
- Tours - For those wanting package tours this category offers you the choice of providers.
- Restaurants - Find a restaurant and experience the cuisine that is New Zealand.
- Pubs and Clubs - Enjoy the social side of New Zealand within regions in the many bars and clubs within the listings.
- Shopping - From shopping malls to individual boutique operators this category caters for them all
- Wineries - New Zealand's emerging viticulture industries own category.

- Essential services - Lists the Banks, Dental Services, Emergency Services, Hospitals, Immigration Services, Medical Centres contact numbers and addresses
- Maps - Region by region maps giving major highways and free to download.
- Regional information - A brief overview of each of the regions within New Zealand.
- Travel Insurance - Travel insurer Nomads discount travel insurance policies.
For an overview of New Zealand, visit the Regional Information sections. For information on each of the regions, visit the individual regions by clicking on the province names beside the map of New Zealand. From each region you can visit specific areas of information .
If you are planning to drive around New Zealand, the Maps section provides main highways covering different regions, towns and cities for each province.
